Before you light your candle, please also make sure that you have read and are familiar with our candle safety guidelines to make sure you can enjoy your candle safely and confidently.

Caring for your candle

Candles should be stored upright in a cool, dry and dark place.

The first time you light your candle, allow it to burn until the wax is melted all the way to the edge of the container. This may take up to 4 hours for larger candles so be sure to leave plenty of time! Extinguishing before this will result in the candle continuing to burn down creating a dip. Following this procedure will mean that the candle will burn down evenly – giving maximum fragrance, longer burn time, and a more uniform look.

Draughts will decrease burn time, cause uneven burning, encourage sooting, and reduce fragrance throw.

Direct sunlight causes fading and may soften the wax and reduce the longevity of the fragrance.

If burning several candles keep them at least 10cm apart. Candles burnt too close together will affect each the burn quality of the neighbouring candles.

Burn candles for a maximum of 4 hours before extinguishing and allowing to cool for 2 hours. Trim the wick before relighting.

Keep the wick trimmed to between 3-5mm before re-lighting to avoid smoking and ensure the candles gives maximum burn time. If your candle flickers, smokes, or the flame looks too big, extinguish and allow to cool. Trim the wick and relight.

Candles that do not have their own holder or container should always be burned in a proper candleholder which will have been designed to protect the candle, withstand the heat, and protect any surface it stands on. Tea lights and votives need to be burned in a candle holder as they can become fully liquid and very hot at the base when burning.

Wax can be removed from candle holders by running hot water over them. Alternatively, place the cooled candle holder in the freezer for an hour or so. The frozen wax will be easy to remove.

Keeping your candle clean is important as it stops dust u0026amp; dirt, which can be highly flammable, from coating on the wax. It also makes your candle look beautiful inside your home.

If your candle is left out for long periods of time without being burned then make sure it is either covered or regularly cleaned and wiped before each burn.

Dust and fingerprints can be removed from your candle by rubbing the surface gently with a nylon or soft cloth. The cloth can be dry or slightly damp.

Caring for your reed diffuser

Reed diffusers provide a contemporary, long lasting, and hassle free way of providing continual fragrance in your home by placing reeds into a bottle of fragrance oil. The reeds are absorbent so carry the oil along their length and gradually diffuse the scent into the air, giving a wonderful consistent scent. The level of scent can be controlled by the number of reeds used, and how often you flip the reeds. They are a wonderful alternative to a candle, needing no attention and having no flame so ideal.

How to use

Place all the sticks into the bottle, and arrange loosely. After a short while, take the reeds out and flip them so that the dry ends go into the bottle. Rotate several times to allow the sticks to become fully saturated. It may take up to 24 hours for the fragrance to reach its level. Depending on the size of room and intensity of scent desired, you may choose to remove some of the reeds.

It is recommended that the reeds are turned weekly to maintain the fragrance level however they can be flipped at any time to give an extra boost.
